San Francisco Anti-War Rally, October 27, 2007
The Unholy Land
No fans of Israel
One of the main themes of the rally -- and of all these kinds of anti-war rallies, it seems -- is denigration of Israel, and support for the cause of creating a Palestinian state where Israel now exists. An added bonus this time around was the "Jewish tentacles" theory that the United States attacked Afghanistan and Iraq on orders from Israel and its agents.
Israel out of the USA. Hmmmmm.
"AIPAC" is a pro-Israel lobbying group, and has come to symbolize "Jewish influence" on American politics.
This Ward Churchill fan is handing flyers to two hijab-wearing girls. The flyers say, "Ward Churchill: Zionism, Manifest Destiny, and Nazi Lebensraumpolitik," drawing a three-way comparison between Nazi expansionism in Europe, the settling of America, and the establishment of Israel. A trifecta!
Could that be the Hamas flag? Yes it could!
The Hamas flag has printed on it the shahadah, the Islamic declaration of belief, which says, "There is no god but Allah, and Mohammed is the messenger of Allah."
These guys climbed up on a storage container and waved their flag over the crowd.
When an evil Zionist helicopter flew by, he waved it at the helicopter.
And of course it wouldn't be a decent protest without Queers for Palestine.
Yes, there was a counter-protest, across the street, where one of the pro-Israel demonstrators held this on-point message.
